Chicago Cubs Team Signed Helmet

This helmet is described as being signed by 25 of the 2007 Chicago Cubs -- it comes with a COA from XMI Authentics, has anyone ever heard of that company?

This is the auction:

Below is the "Quick Opinion" result of that Chicago Cubs team-signed helmet that was being sold by seller "Signiturememorabilia." "XMIAuthentication" is not a true authentication company; they simply sell fake autograph items. The seller of that fake autographed Chicago Cubs team-signed helmet did all he could to attempt to intimidate me with his emails that included profanity and his libel suit threats. He eventually backed off and just about admitted he was selling fakes that he bought from other Ebay sellers. His reasoning for selling those fake autograph items was that he just wanted to dump them on someone else. He claimed he spent $355.00 for that fake Cubs team-signed helmet. Can you imagine spending $355.00 for such an obvious fake!! By the way, he sold tons of other fake autograph items also. A lot has happened over the last two weeksand I will be writing about each incident separately. Below is the "Quick Opinion" result:

Your Request for Item "Chicago Cubs team signed batting helmet.", Ebay Item No. "110147248550", opinion was rendered at "7/11/2007 3:46:57 PM" and the result was:

The below "Quick Opinion" result is of an item from Ebay Seller "Candace123," whom Ebay still allows to sell. His autograph items over the years have never passed "Quick Opinion." Although he does sell many "GAI" authenticated items (big deal!) Ebay's reward to him for selling so many fakes over the years is to allow him to continue to sell. Below is the result:

Ebay Seller "Favoritessc," who I've been complaining to Ebay about for months, and whose items never passed "Quick Opinion" is "Not A Register User" on Ebay.

Ebay Seller "Attheballpark500," who also used Ebay IDs "cavemancandoit99" and "fortheloveofthegame300" is also "Not A Registered User" on Ebay. All the garbage he sold. I have no idea how he lasted so long selling his garbage.

XMI is believed to be a counterfeit company. I would avoid dealing with any company that sells a large quantity of autographed items that can't be traced to one of the major authenticators. Don't bid on it. Plus, it can't be too hard getting the Cubs to sign anything if you just go to the ballpark and ask.

Ebay Seller "Roadtrn" continues to sell his obvious fakes. Chekc out this Jeter that sold for $14.99. It is Ebay item Number 250140502666. He just lited another 50 fakes tonight. I filed another report to Ebay about his autograph items.

Last year after the Cardinals won the world series, I saw about 10-12 jerseys that were all team signed authenticated by XMI. They apparently have an online authentication site, etc. I don not believe that the items are from paid signings, as the COA's are simply..."This item was examined....". THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION - The autographs that I saw were not good. Pujols has a few jerseys numbers out there that were sewn on after he signed them, but it is rare (if ever) that he signs on the shoulder of a jersey with a FULL signature...it is usually a ballpark sig. These jerseys had everyone in the same pen. Again, I am a big collector, and I would avoid them.

Ebay Seller "Simemorabilia" is once again selling their fakes. Check out this Ebay Item Number 260143446084. The COA they use is from "Top Deck" which is a name I encountered years ago when I first started my investigation. Of course, he had a different Ebay ID at that time. One of their Ebay IDs was "Topdeck904." They were connected with sellers "Critr80" and "usasportsautos." As you can see, these guys always come back.

The below "Quick Opinion" result is of an item from Ebay Seller "bigkins." As we all know, with Barry and Alex so close to reaching milestones the forgeries of both athletes have increased tremendously on Ebay. That percentage will increase even more after both of them reach 756 and 500 respectively. The below item was such an obvious forgery. After I emailed the seller about the item he emailed me a profanity-laced email which I cannot paste here because of the profanity. Here is the result:

Below is the second email I received from Ebay Seller "bigkins" whose Alex Rodriguez autographed bat failed "Quick Opinion."

I'M NOT GOING TO CALL YOU BY NAME AND I'M NOT GOING TO CALL YOU NAMES IN THIS EMAIL. I REALLY DON'T OWE YOU AN EXPLAINATION AND DON'T THINK MUCH OF YOUR TROUBLE YOU CAUSED ME, BUT I WILL TELL YOU WHAT I WASTED MY WHOLE WEEKEND WITH EBAY EXPLAINING. MAYBE IT WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DESERVE TO BE QUESTIONED AND PUT DOWN.
I PURCHASED THAT BAT (AS AUTHENTIC), BAT TUBE AND C.O.A. (EXACTLY AS THEY ARE TODAY) FROM A GOOD STANDING EBAY MEMBER ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO BY WINNING AN AUTHENTIC EBAY AUCTION AND PAYING FOR IT WITH A LOT OF HARD EARNED MONEY RIGHT AWAY THROUGH MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT. I PUT THE BAT AWAY FOR SAFE KEEPING AND HAVE BROUGHT IT OUT TO SELL RECENTLY AS AROD APPROACHED 500 HOMERS, FEELING IT WOULD BE UP IN VALUE AT THIS TIME TO RESELL. IT MUST HAVE BEEN IN MY LITTLE STORE FOR ABOUT A COUPLE MONTHS MINDING IT'S OWN BUSINESS.
THEN OUT OF THE BLUE I RECEIVE THIS SNIDE EMAIL FROM YOU "Great looking? That's not even Alex's autograph." I SEE ITEMS ALL OF THE TIME WHICH I KNOW FOR A FACT ARE NOT DESCRIBED CORRECTLY OR TO MY TASTE, BUT I DON'T QUESTION THE SELLER. FOR ONE THING I COULD BE WRONG AND ALSO I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE TO KEEP MY NOSE OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S BUSINESS. I JUST DON'T BID ON THEM.
YOU INSULTED ME WITH YOUR "Great looking? That's not even Alex's autograph."
CRACK AND I ALSO GOT THE FEELING YOU WERE INSINUATING THAT I FORGED AROD'S SIGNATURE, AS IF I'M SOME SORT OF AN UNETHICAL SCAM ARTIST. YOU COULDN'T BE MORE OUT OF LINE WITH BOTH ASPECTS. I MUST TELL YOU THAT THE THREE EBAY PERSONEL I SPOKE WITH YESTERDAY COULDN'T AGREE WITH ME MORE EITHER.
I DID NOTHING WRONG AND YOU WERE WAY OUT OF LINE TO DO WHAT YOU DID (EVERYONE AGREES), ESPECIALLY IN THE WAY YOU WENT ABOUT IT BY ANTAGONIZING ME. YOUV'E GOT A LOT TO LEARN ABOUT LIFE.

...You are right,graph_collectin -
getting onto a fake autograph blog and being a jackass is better than being a Cards fan/collector. You probably have a stack of Kerry Wood and Mark prior photos in your underwear drawer.

John Tudor - 117 Wins

Kerry Wood - 71
Mark Prior - 43

Let me clarify something too...

Waht I probably meant to say is that I am a big collector of Cardinals realted things. Probably not as big as some out there, but nonetheless, I have a pretty good collection.

I think anyone who collects cards stuff on a regular basis can tell the difference between what is probably real and what is an obvious forgery.

"Wanna be" big collector? This is "laughable". I guess the only guys who can be big collectors are the guys with Shoeless Joe bats and Ruth Jerseys...I'm not sure.

As far as the items in my eBay store, they fill a niche somewhere...

1. Funny you should mention that when you slam others before PSA even sends you thier worthless QUICKOPINON! Does it really matter? NO! AS long as you don't act like something your not... Like Big Truck.. A "big collector"!.... a big collection of 3rd rate STL Cardinals scrubs. You: A wannabe "authenticator"

Why don't you critcize the "bad sellers" on Ebay who sell obvious forgeries in exchange for money?

2. I do. Stop all of them! But don't make stupid comments on here (Bigtruck) or make liable comments about others before your prcious Quikopinon comes back! Just when I re- read something as stupid as "Im such a "big collector!, I know EEEVVERRYTHING!!!" over and over... I have to call it out.

Why don't you criticize the fraudulent sellers on Ebay?

3... becasue your justas bid of a fraud.

Are you afraid of them or one of them?

4. No... you just think every single item is fake until auto approve on QuikOpinon proves you wrong!

Why don't you criticize for their passive response to all of the fraud on their website? Well?

5. Who The F asked you? Why don't you mind your own Derek Jeter loving buisness?????

Just what I expected. An articulate and informative response. Anyway, any one who has any common sense and logic knows that I don't submit "Quick Opinions" to prove that a autograph is a forgery. First of all, the auctions that I select for "Quick Opinions" are those that I know are fakes. Secondly, I then submit them to "Quick Opinion" for both documentation and to let the seller know that someone is watching them and aware of what they are doing. It also gets that item removed after it fails "Quick Opinion" and it forces Ebay to look at the sellers other autograph items. Also, I don't claim to be anything. Where did you get that idea from? What are we suppose do, just sit back and allow the bad guys to sell their thousands of forgeries? Are we just suppose to sit back while Ebay profits in the millions from the sales of forgeries? You make it sound like there is something wrong in caring. I wish more people cared instead of sitting on the sidelines while the bad sellers of Ebay commit fraud on a daily basis. It's ironic, and I've written this before, that us good guys are more of a target than the bad guys. And the reason for that is that people have nothing to fear from us good guys but for some reason they fear the bad guys of Ebay. There are a few people here who are privy to some of the threatening emails I receive, but you have to understand that the majority of bad guys are pretty much wimps and that's why they think their threatening emails will intimidate me. All of them are spineless. One day the law will catch up to all of them.

Ebay Seller "redhorde74," who lists new Derek Jeter and Albert Pujols fake autograph card every 24 hours, continues to be allowed to by Ebay even after numerous complaints by me. Below is an email I received from Ebay. My comment will follow:

Recently we became aware that your eBay account was involved in the following activity:

* Transaction Interference -

Emailing buyers in an open or ended transaction to warn them away from a seller or item.

Or

Contacting a seller and offering to purchase the listed item outside of eBay.

We realize that you may not have been aware that there was a rule against this activity. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to review the Using eBay section of our User Agreement, which states:

While using the Sites, you will not:

manipulate the price of any item or interfere with other user's listings

We understand your willingness to help try and keep eBay a safe and fun place, but please understand there are many ways we enable a user to make an informed decision about their transaction without outside interference.

Please understand our goal is to help you understand our policies to ensure successful experiences at eBay. Therefore, we respectfully request that you refrain from this activity in the future to avoid the possible suspension of your eBay registration.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to review our site policies, which can be found at:

http://pages.ebay.com/help//policies/transaction-interference.html

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this important matter.

Regards,

Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department)

I asked Ebay to send me the email where I caused "transaction interference." Isn't it ironic that I can't warn a bidder that they are bidding on a forgery, but the sellers of forgeries can run amok on Ebay with total freedom.

As you can see I submitted some "Quick Opinion" results from sellers of autographed entertainment items. My first question why would these buyers on Ebay bid $399.99 for a autographed guitar from their favorite band without really knowing if it was signed by them? Why wouldn't they spend a lousy $7.49 to check out the autographs before bidding? And, of course, Ebay is making a ton of profits fron the sales of fake autograph entertainment items, which is higher in numbers than fakes of autographed sports memorabilia and trading cards on Ebay.

This reply is for "Onlyrealgraphs." First of all, I only submit "Quick Opinions" on those autograph items that I know are 100% fake. Ebay, for the most part, does remove the auction of that seller whose item is rejected by "Quick Opinion." But one of the main problems is that if I show Ebay a seller whose items failed multiple "Quick Opinions" Ebay will remove those items but leave the other fakes to run to duration. They simply do not want to lose the commissions for those other items for the most part. Ebay may claim they need time to build a case against the seller, but that simply isn't true. Why it is that I have proven over and over again via "Quick Opinion" that Ebay Seller "2004senod2004" has been selling fakes and yet Ebay continues to allow them to sell their autograph items. I can name at least a dozen other instances. Also, the "Dan" guy I mentioned awhile back is a "Live Help" person I spoke. He listened to me but that's about it. Why Ebay doesn't want to work with us is beyond me. If they really wanted Ebay to be a "Safe Trading Enviornment" then they would be working with us. When it comes to autographed sports cards, memeorabilia, etc., Ebay is the most "unsafest" place to do bidding, etc., unless you know what you're doing and what to look for.

Some great news to report. Ebay finally removed the autogrpah items from seller "gngsports." He was listing fake autographed trading cards every day. Also seller "redhorder74" is now "No Longer A Registered" user on Ebay. He was selling Jeter and Pujols fake autograph cards on a daily basis.

Do the comments have to be pre-approved? It doesn't seem like they are being left.
