Shaq Autograph?

This ball is being offered by an eBay seller who claims that they are listing this ball for their client. It comes with no COA, and they claim that the owner of this item is an expert in the sports collectible field.

Looking at this signature, it is kind of sloppy and doesn't really look like Shaq's autograph.

Is this a responsible way of selling autographs? Listing them for people who are telling you they are authentic?

This ball sold for $79.

I think the main problem with this is that if you purchased this ball, you would have a very hard time reselling it because you would have to say that you bought it from someone who was selling it for someone else who said it was real.

Lebron James Mitchell & Ness Jersey?

We had an interesting email from one of our readers asking us if a Lebron James Mitchell and Ness High School jersey exists. We went to the M&N web site www.mitchellandness.com and did a search and nothing under Lebron comes up.

In our conversations with Mitchell and Ness, unless the jersey shows up on their site, it is not something that they produce. There are still tons of counterfeit Mitchell and Ness jerseys on the market and they are very hard to spot because they come complete with all tagging, even down to the NBA holograms on the hang tags.

When you are unsure, check their site. You can even call them and ask them and they will tell you if it is genuine or not. Mitchell and Ness can only produce jerseys in which they have a contract with the player. If they are not contracted with the player, they cannot produce the jersey.

You will notice that you can't find a Joe Montana jersey on their site. That is because Montana does not have a contract with Mitchell and Ness and they are not allowed to produce his jersey.

HBO Real Sports Fake Autograph Show

I know it aired a while ago, but this HBO Real Sports show regarding sports memorabilia seems like it is creating a buzz in the industry. One of the producers from the show found our blog and contacted us 3-4 months ago for some information on the industry (although they didn't really use anything we provided). That does show that this blog is making a difference, especially due to all of the loyal readers we have. You make this blog important on the search engines by referring it to others and we appreciate it!

Feel free to comment, we want to hear what you think.

Thanks
